The current policy for this rule is that athletes that return to the school from sport events later than 11:00 PM get a late start like a normal two-hour delay so to come into school by 9:30 AM. This petition could potentially validate that students who return later than 10:00 PM, rather than 11:00PM, would get an automatic late start and get homework given to them in advance to get all school work done. National Sleep Foundation stated that if people don’t get enough sleep it will limit their ability to learn, listen, concentrate, and solve problems. Staying up late to do homework can cause academic anxiety, or school stress, which can make students struggle with schoolwork and students’ focus in class can decrease as reported by an article from Teen Health and Wellness. By having the time changed for all athletes, students will be fully rested and have less stress on themselves when coming home from a school sport.

The momentum is incredible. This proves we all agree that student athlete health deserves priority.

getting in at midnight and expected to be in class at 7 is actually insane. nobody is learning anything on 4 hours of sleep.

KIDS NEED SLEEP. athletics are important but school comes first and you cant focus if you are half asleep. change it now.
