One of my favorite meaningless websites completely ruined. In it's current state, I don't even see the point in using the site.

The new beta is crap and you can't even scrobble what you listen to. Please do society a favor and fix back what you once had. You will lose thousands and millions of people if it don't get improved. No one likes the beta!!!

After an overwhelmingly, undeniably negative response to the Beta version, it was still released (despite being incomplete?!) to the public. What's the point in adhering to corporate deadlines and going on about how hard you've worked, if the product is poorly crafted and detrimental to the users' experience?
Sadly, it's unlikely we'll be able to go back to the 'old' design and functionality. However, Last.fm are definitely able to listen to the constructive criticism being given by their userbase and make serious changes. We also need more/improved communication (i.e. an active list of things being worked on, and perhaps time frames for when we can expect to see it happen).
They've removed most of the personality and functionality of Last.fm. It makes no sense whatsoever, but I believe that they can amend it (even simple changes like reinstating our 'friends' instead of the unnecessary change to 'followers', as if we were sheep from Twitter..)
Aside from the mess they've made of the actual features of the site, the design in itself is poor and not well done at all. Thousands have complained of the extensive blank space, the placement of adverts in the middle of the site (e.g. between the header and the rest of the user profile), the strange use of images (from giant squares over the user profiles to tiny circles in the libraries? It's no cohesive at all!)
So many suggestions have been given, it's up to last.fm to carry it out or see the site become redundant.
