WE COUNT WHEN IT'S TIME TO WORK

WE COUNT WHEN IT'S TIME TO PAY TAXES

WE WANT TO BE COUNTED AS PART OF THE COMMUNITY OF THE UNITED KINGDOM!

We want the "Latin American" category to be included in each of the ethnic minority poles of the United Kingdom at both the local and national level.

Ethnic poles assist to:

Identify the needs of the different sectors of the population, regardless of their color, ethnicity or sex.

Develop services and assistance programs that

include every community group in the United Kingdom.

Monitor the access of the different sectors to health, education and services, taking care of the most important needs.

Compile necessary data to distribute public funds.

Combat discrimination, social exclusion and develop policies to ensure equal opportunities for all

.

Even today, Latin Americans still haven't been included in these forms. We want the inclusion of the category "Latin American" to be able to fight for the access of Latin Americans in the United Kingdom to services such as health, security and education. We want equal opportunities without discrimination because of our origin, language or color.

WE WANT THEM TO CONTINUE COUNTING WITH US

WE WANT TO BE COUNTED

WE WANT TO BE HEARD

Through this petition I demand London's local authorities: the Greater London Authority, the Local Councils of London and the United Kingdom, as well as the Office for National Statistics for the inclusion of the ethnic category "LATIN AMERICAN" in every official form of ethnic monitoring, at both the local and national level.

Updates

June 29, 2012

The stories shared in the comments reflect a deep desire to be officially acknowledged by the systems that rely on our contributions. I am currently working on a formal brief to present these experiences to the relevant local authorities. This project is becoming a broader record of our community presence than I initially anticipated.

June 29, 2012

The steady growth of this petition reflects a growing consensus that our contributions deserve formal recognition in the public record. Reaching this milestone confirms that the need for accurate data gathering is a priority for many communities across the country.
