Lane 9 Gym users value exercising in natural light and having windows with a good outlook. The Concept Plans for the redevelopment of the North Sydney Olympic Pool will likely place the new gym either under the grandstand, or underground, where there will be no windows, no outlook and no natural light.

Many gym users have already indicated that they find the existing outlook inspirational, and it is one of the main reason why the have chosen Lane 9 Gym in preference to more conveniently located gyms that operate in either a windowless, or a basement situation.

The existing gym location with its million dollar views. will become housing for plant and machinery. It is incomprehensible that the building with one of the most iconic views on the site should be used for this purpose.

Hopefully, with enough support Council will be persuaded to have a fresh look at placing the gym in an above ground situation. It is possible to keep the gym in the original position, and increase the area available by approx 60%, by using some of the next door meeting room, the passage and part of the existing plant room. This is an option. Probably there are others, and it is up to Council and its Consultants to come up with new plans.

We need to place as much pressure on Council as possible. Please sign this petition and spread it amongst your friends and work colleagues.

This petition calls upon North Sydney Council to:

1. Not move Lane 9 Gym into a windowless or an underground basement situation

2. Retain Lane 9 Gym above ground

3. Ensure that Lane 9 Gym has windows that continue to provide an iconic outlook, and that allow natural light into the exercise area.
