You can’t change history. Thinking that changing the name of a school is ridiculous and a waste of resources and money. Shouldn’t we remember where we came from so we learn from the past and not repeat those mistakes? Maybe these young folks need these reminders In their face so they never forget the good and bad parts of history.

Robert E. Lee was actually quite progressive on issues of race for his time. Lee opposed slavery and he opposed secession but he could not raise his hand against his home state and family.

The name is a part of history of this country and state - most importantly a reminder of the difficult time the country experienced

If you’re hellbent on doing this, at least just return it to Lee High School, the original name (after Lee District). But I know there are so many better things on which to spend public school money.

I first attended Lee in the 8th grade back in 1959. Please don't mess my school name, as it would also mess with my PERSONAL history, not to mention my IDENTITY.
