I am a 1968 R E Lee graduate and I am appalled at the idea of changing the name of our high school. I t is named for a highly respected man from a historical time in our history. We are proud of the name and see no reason to change it because of political reasons. I want the name to remain as is!

Is appalling that a public educational board is suggesting we bury History instead of Learning from it and celebrating how our nation overcame the adversity of that time. Again, I now live near Appomattox va where their welcome sign states proudly “where our country ReUnited”!
In my profession as a realtor, not once has a client asked about a name of a school but their graduation rates. Not to mention, It’s an unneeded expense that serves no purpose but for the Single person who initiated this action, to show she can take action - with no public support of her action.

Simply; You can’t erase history. Would you tell the cave men their primitive hieroglyphics on cave walls wasn’t the first known form of communication. How far are “you” willing to swipe that eraser? We have evolved from slavery. Are you going to erase Trumps presidency when and if the Democrats control both, the house and senate? Leave History where it belongs.

As a 1985 graduate I do NOT support changing the name of Lee High School! Stop trying to erase history! Robert E Lee was a Virginian and as such deserves his name on a school! Please don’t forget he was asked to lead the northern Army because he was a great General!

There is no sensible reason to change the name of our alma mater. This is school board muscle and a ridiculous attempt at trying to show the world how PC they are.

Can’t change the past, history is what it is. Virginia was part of the South, pride in our history & leaders.
