History is our Legacy! Whether local, state, national or world history. Imagine our world without the song "Amazing Grace" written by a ruthless slave owner who through the grace of God became a champion for slaves! There are numerous wonderful historical people, songs , writings and art that changed our view of the past. Changing a name will never change the past. Always look for the goodness in our history and embrace it. Freedom isn't FREE ! There have been many bumps in the road towards building our incredible Nation. Be patriotic and love America. Study the Constitution , Bill of Rights , Declaration of Independence etc. Change your anger into education! God Bless the U.S.A. Save our Monuments and Statues and remember we shall not have taxation without representation!

If you dont like our high school name, move to another district that makes you "feel better" ! I loved lee high!! Had nothing to do with Saluting General Lee everyday or even a concept of tragedies from our past. It was simple. Lee high. Dont make this political! This is rediculous!

A couple people from the Fairfax County “new school” board should not push or have the right to change the name of this school. The Lee family was a part of Virginia and United States History and helped fight for the independence of our country. STOP using your self loathing and politics to push your own agenda. This should be an alumni and Fairfax County Citizens decision not yours. Concentrate instead on improving education within the FCPS and use the hundreds of thousands of dollars that it would cost for this name change to update the distant learning program instead of a ridiculous idea of renaming a school. Total waste of taxpayers money. The Distant Learning program was a failure because funds were not utilized properly and updates to technology were not implemented. Instead you want to change the name of a school, that is part of our American and Virginian history ? Stop using politics and our hard earned taxpayers dollars on WASTED IDEAS

As a graduate of the school in 2006, I can say that if anyone actually studied Robert E. Lee, he was a man who was against slavery, and actually freed the slaves he owned. Do research before making baseless accusations.

The effort to change the name of the school is a complete waste of time, effort and money given the numerous unfunded mandates and needs of the education system. I will vote out any member of the board that votes for changing the names of the schools in Fairfax.

Lee went on to start the countries first business school as President of Washington and Lee University. He was a great educator.
