Lake Winnipeg water height is causing significant damage. Numerous lake-side communities face water-related erosion issues, including: - Significant economic loss - Health and safety issues - Environmental damage - Community conflict Against this public loss, Manitoba Hydro is the main beneficiary of high water levels. They also have some control over its maximum height. Thankfully, Manitoba Hydro must listen to us. "Compensation" Clause 15(3) of The Manitoba Hydro Act puts their current business activity at considerable risk. By supporting this petition you believe: 1) Safe water levels (ie: adherence to Hydro's promise of water levels consistantly below 715 feet) must be maintained, or significant compensation (in excess of $1B annually) should be granted to local municipalities, 2) This maximum level must be lowered.
