It’s terrible that Will won’t admit they did anything wrong- that means there will be no change going forward! Anyone who does 15 minutes of research can learn: - DON’T treat late in the season when the growth is the largest - treat in spring! - NEVER treat the whole lake at one time - do in timed stages - NEVER do in super-hot weather - algae thrives on that!!! They did it in August in a heat wave. Fix it before more wildlife does! Susan Kilcup 35-year resident of Lakeport

I am appalled at the current condition of Lake Throeau. What was a sanctuary for people, a habitat for wildlife & a life source for so many species has become a stinking, vile, toxic and dangerous mess. I ask that RA take immediate accountability for the ecosystem they have destroyed. I demand transparency & answers.

I just purchased home on water this month, only to be met with a green Lagoon and floating seaweed all around. Not a great first 10 days of home ownership at Lake Thoreau... From a water quality perspective. My kids want to paddleboard but are afraid if falling into the slimy water!

I'm an owner in Harbor Point, I strongly support this petition. It's been incredibly sad to see what happened to this lake and the wildlife.

Ever since the decline in large Sterile Carp in Lake Thoreau the lake has become clogged with underwater plant growth and lack of clarity. RA needs to take these problems seriously and restore this asset to it's previous wonderful state.

I strongly support this petition. At the beginning of the summer, the lake was incredibly clear and clean. You could see down to the bottom in the cove areas. After the treatment, the lake became swampy and green. There are so many beautiful birds, fish, turtles, and other wildlife that consider Lake Thoreau their home. Please help us to keep it safe and clean for them now and in the future.

Clean up the dying hydrilla. It is washing up on my property. Give us information on any hazards caused by dying hydrilla.

I support this initiative to improve the care of the lake especially because the use of it increases each year by all Restonites. I also support the RA team that manages this lake. I believe they take their responsibility seriously and need public intervention like this to highlight to the RA board the need and budget for continuous monitoring and remediation especially during summer months.

I've lived on the lake since 1993. This is the most toxic I have ever seen it. If only RA had explained what killing the hydrilla all at once was going to do. Why did they treat it when it was so very hot and humid? Everything I've read said you don't treat it under these conditions and you don't treat the entire lake at once. The death and destruction to our wildlife is unforgivable. I speak for people that live off the lake too that were enjoying their paddle boards and kayaks in record numbers at a time when we needed a safe haven through these difficult times.

I’ve been on Lake Thoreau since 2006 and these past few years have been the worst I’ve ever seen. No one at RA is taking responsibility for turning this beautiful lake into a dying swamp.
