Water is life

Retired U.S.Geological Survey limnologist who studied Coeur d'Alene Lake from 1987 through 2006. I have published 18 scientific papers relating to my research about CDA Lake.

While my residence is listed as Arizona I have been a long time resident of Coeur d Alene and am here 6 mths each year mainly to enjoy swimming, kayaking and admiring Lake Coeur d Alene. What can I do to help improve the water quality of the lake? This is a valuable and sacred body of water for everyone in our community.

I support the acknowledgment as I hope it will be a step forward in making the necessary improvements need to address the water quality issues on Lake Coeur d Alene.

I love our lake and want to protect it for us and for the environment that its connected to.

Thank you for this comprehensive initiative in addressing the need to acknowledge and take action to save our beautiful lake. It will take all of us to shoulder the responsibility of preventing a life threatening disaster. Come together right now.

Feel deeply concerned and passionate about this. I love this Lake; it has been our daily inspiration as well as playground for two decades. it is a precious resource for this community and we want to understand the level of pollution which may be affecting it's health.

I would be very interested in learning about the increase neurodegenerative disease in the area and the correlation to toxins in the environment.

I am 93 years old and recognize that money is an illusion but healthy water for ALL is REAL.

Dear Public Officials, I am concerned knowing that lead, cadmium and zinc buried in the lakes sediment, and the rising phosphorous levels due to effluent, fertilizers and such are damaging the oxygen cap thus potentially releasing the dangerous chemicals lying beneath into the water column. Being a resident of Bonanza Ranch who receives water that's treated by Kootenai County Water District 1 which receives its. water from the lake, I'm sure you can imagine my worries regarding the lakes health. Also four generations of my family recreate on the lake. I'm beginning to be alarmed realizing the scientific findings that are pointing in a downward direction. I ponder, should I allow to let my grandchildren swim in the lake they so love? Please acknowledge that our community has a public health issue so that as a community we can then move forward to address this important issue. Respectfully, Gina Brooks Coeur d' Alene
