Lake Windermere has a current speed limit of 10 nautical miles per hour. This in 2005 dramatically effected water skiers and other such water goers, to the point in which the lake no longer accommodated to their needs. The shear reduction of population within this area resulted in a damaging effect to the local economy. Driving out holiday makers that indulge in shopping and restaurants, as apposed to the more sandwich making walkers and light sailing personnel.

The limit was introduced in order to increase safety for boaters and reduce noise for walkers around the area (not that they have another 20 or so lakes). Never the less I fully understand this, but i propose, rather than purely accommodating just walkers and low speed boats, why not accommodate both? Cordoned areas or alternate weekends in which higher speed activities can be enjoyed by everyone.
Windermere WAS the last lake that could be used for such activities, lets change this back to IS (part-time)
