Please reconsider and find another solution to these pylons and site the sub station in a less obvious place

One would not feel so bad about the desecration of the countryside, if it was for a worthwhile propose. Wind power is not efficient, nor will it ever be efficient. It is great for the companies greatly subsidised at a horrendous cost to us all, and to the land owners who get loads of lolly for sitting on their bums all year.

The UK Department of Health set up the Stakeholder Advisory Group on ELF EMFs (SAGE) to explore the implications and to make recommendations for a precautionary approach to power frequency electric and magnetic fields in light of any evidence of a link between EMF and childhood leukemia. The first interim assessment of this group was released in April 2007 [1], and found that the link between proximity to power lines and childhood leukemia was sufficient to warrant a precautionary recommendation, including an option to lay new power lines underground where possible and to prevent the building of new residential buildings within 60 m (197 ft) of existing power lines. The latter of these options was not an official recommendation to government as the cost-benefit analysis based on the increased risk for childhood leukemia alone was considered insufficient to warrant it. The option was considered necessary for inclusion as, if found to be real, the weaker association with other health effects would make it worth implementing.

The substation and pylon line must be sited outwith the village to avoid seriously affecting its picturesque nature. The site must be the least intrusive possible regarding tourism and residents alike.

I think the proposed substation and pylons would have an extremely negative aesthetic impact on this scenic rural area and of course on the tourist traffic that the rural community relies on.

To upgrade a small sub station by this large amount is a worry to all of . The electric magnetic emissions noises will be a problem to a lot of people. The size of the pylons over the village will be a blight on the beautiful landscape. There are other routes around the village that would be suitable ( except for cost to SSE ) these should be used. Tourism is a large part of jobs for Lairg , we cannot afford to loose these amenities through SSE spoiling our landscape all for cost.

Our views are already blighted by wind turbines and pylons. New double sized pylons and a vast substation with blight the landscape and put off the tourists and visitors. What price we pay to make a few land owners and corporations richer on the backs of the energy customers.
