Something that is coming up over and over again is how expensive printing is for us on L4 Graphic Design. It is essential that we print colour images for the majority of us and at 20p a sheet, it is adding up very quickly.
I know some people have already spent upwards of £40 on printing and we are less than 2 months into the course.
We are expected and asked to print consistently, and we already pay £9,000 each to the school a year, even more for international students.
We know that some other universities cover in-studio printing costs, and whilst we do appreciate that the areas Brighton are spending in are important, we would like to see some of our money going towards printing, a fundamental part of our coursework.
We want to see a solution to this.
Either individual printing credits in each student’s account, or another proposed solution to take some burden off of us, in a time where it is already extremely expensive to go to university in Brighton.
We think that the release of funds for printing is a necessary and completely justified use of our money.

I have been hearing from so many of you about the actual amount you have spent on printing just this term and the reality is unsustainable for our budget. I am currently putting together a formal request to the department heads to show them exactly how heavily this is impacting our coursework and our pockets.

Seeing so many of you come together proves that the cost of these prints is a burden we all feel deeply. This level of support shows the department that our coursework relies on color printing and it is time for them to acknowledge the financial strain they have placed on us.

im already broke as it is and i havent even finished half my projects yet. please fix this.
Uni spends money on everything else but the things we actually need to get our work done. Give us the credits.
