Dear President Schmotter and Provost Stewart,
We write to ask that you approve Professor Christopher Kukk for full professor. In our view he richly merits this honor and status, notwithstanding the failure of the Promotion & Tenure Committee to support him.
We know that Professor Kukk is possessed of amazing energy, passion, scholarship, and commitment. We know that his record is before you, so you have details of his many, very public ways of representing the best of WCSU to a worldwide audience. He is a select scholar for a major program to work with Chinese counterparts on water resources; he is currently being recruited by the State Department for a project in the Middle East; he has been a Fulbright Fellow in Estonia.
Students are simply wild about his commitment to them. His leadership of the Honors Program has been transformative. He has attracted very high caliber students to the university and has raised the overall GPA of students in the program to 3.7. He is the campus coordinator of the Jane Goodall Institute. He has even served as an honorary faculty coach for the women's basketball team and is the faculty mentor for the Student Government Association. He revived debate at WCSU and coached the debate team to national prominence.
His scholarship on worldwide water resources is recognized around the world. He has lectured at Harvard on the subject, and he has published articles in this field.
Christopher Kukk represents the best WCSU has to offer. Please recognize his merit and recommend his promotion to the Board.
The quiet from the administration remains deafening even as we continue to gather support. It is exhausting to watch such a clear case for promotion get ignored but I remain focused on making sure the facts stay in front of those who need to see them.

Reaching this level of support confirms that we are not alone in recognizing what Christopher Kukk deserves. The weight of this situation remains heavy but seeing this level of backing keeps me focused on the path forward.
