I worked at Perkins Pancake House right next to KSHE when it was in Crestwood and used to take food over to the DJs and pass it through the window

I was fortunate to have a brother three years older who began to listen to KSHE in the mid-60's, which allowed me a heads-up on my classmates who began listening years after me. Back in the late 60's and early 70's, this was THE radio station, no matter where you went in the country. The playing of entire album sides and minimal commercials (which I had heard got them in trouble with the FCC at one time) was unique. KSHE truly educated me not only on the well-known groups, but what my brother and I call the true KSHE Classics, such as Gypsy, Illinois Speed Press, Painter, Stu Nunnery, Aphrodites Child, Joe Byrd/Field Hippies, Midnight Sun, Andy Pratt, Trapeze, Mason Profit, The Move, etc. Their focus on playing song sequences on an album was unique (to this day, I still cannot understand how a station can play Santana's Black Magic Woman without continuing to Oye Como Va). I have my KSHE teeshirt, bought in 1969, now framed and prominently displayed in my home office. Even living in Florida, I am still able to catch up with KSHE Classics each Sunday via my Sonus. And finally, it was always difficult to explain to my friends in college (in OH) how good the station was - it took recording 4 hours on Sony tape cassettes one Friday night in 1971 and taking it back to school to let everyone listen to it that ultimately sold my roommates on how good it was! I am proud to sign the petition.
