We, the signatories, call on the executives of Tesco to create a kosher section in the new Tesco Express store on Bristol Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham. Birmingham University is the university with the highest population of Jewish students in the UK. With an estimated 1000 Jewish students living on the doorstep of this new store we believe there is an overwhelming demand for this kosher section. Not only this, there is an ever increasing number of religious Jewish students who are currently shopping in Sainsbury's for their daily shopping as Tesco's cannot provide them with their Kosher dietary needs. There is a huge gap in market for convenience kosher food. As you know students don't like to travel far for food and having this section so local would be hugely appealing to an enormous number of students, most of whom live within a 5 minute walking radius.
