This petition certifies that we are pledging to learn how to perform a safe and accurate wet mount using the KOH preps. We must first take a clean slide. Apply with a q-tip a few dots of sample, then carefully take a KOH tube and crack gently between your thumb and first two fingers. DO NOT UNCAP or attempt to UNCAP the KOH tube. These tubes work similar to the benzoin or mastisol (mmmm, smells so good). Drop 1-2 drops of KOH onto the sample and waft your hand over slide, taking care not to accidentally waft your hand into the sample. If no chicken of the sea smell, then place a cover slip on and inspect with the microscope.
