Knox County’s government MUST accept the responsibility for protecting the people who electing them to office.

Excuse my language, I don't mean to be rude, just emphatic. I would be surprised that we are even having this discussion, but this is not the first ignorant, stupid, backward thing that our government has proposed. We are in the midst of a WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC. In our country alone, we have "rounded the corner" with 6 million cases, heading for 7 million. We have over 200,000 dead, with some models predicting 400,000 by year end. We have NEVER had a death toll like this in such a short time, unless it was during 1918. This pandemic is about SCIENCE, not POLITICS. We DESPERATELY NEED our medical professionals and experts. We started learning how diseases are spread CENTURIES ago. These people need to be SELECTED, NOT ELECTED, for many reasons. Covid 19 is a VIRUS. We are still learning about it. If you need medical care or surgery, do you choose to go see Billy Bob, because he's a good old boy, or do you visit your DOCTOR? Our Health Department actually needs more authority not less. They KNOW what we need to do to protect ourselves. We SHOULD be following their guidelines, and they SHOULD have enforcement powers. If a person infected with Covid 19 is walking around with no mask, shedding virus right and left, EVERYONE around that person is being criminally assaulted. Smallpox wasn't cured because people went everywhere they wanted, met up at the tavern every evening, and stayed in close contact (not the best example, as smallpox was bacterial and Covid 19 is viral). Is everyone on the County Commission a high school graduate? Haven't they had at least ONE science class somewhere along the way? Even people who have taken all the proper precautions have caught Covid 19 and died, because so many OTHER people refuse to take even the most basic precaution of wearing a mask. If political statements and lies could kill this virus, we would have been clear by the end of March. We are at risk at family gatherings. In church. Other countries won't
