It has become apparent that there are no proper deterents for those who indulge in Knife crime. The Scottish Government, only this last week, have instructed the courts not to use custodial sentences of less than three months, and yet many of these "petty" crimes involve knifes. It is time that the thugs who perpetrate these attacks, more often than not on innocents, are taught a lesson in respect and fear of loss of their own liberty. The human rights act is abused by the perpetrators and does little for the victim. We demand a proper tarriff of custodial sentences for those who even choose to carry an offensive weapon, if they carry a weapon, they show intent. We are taught at a very young age that sharp objects can cause injury and death, and yet we have apologists pointing at social backgrounds as an excuse for these criminals. If a human being can determine right from wrong, then, other than for use in a working environment, it should be illegal to carry a knife in any circumstances. Too many innocents have lost their lives to a crime that can be eradicated with proper administrative and legal acts in place. Enough is enough. No More Soft Sentences For Knife Crimes
