The Kiva Montessori Charter school has benefit many students in our community. My son was struggling in the traditional classroom setting UNTIL I transferred him into the Montessori classroom. His teachers met him at his level of learning and this continued throughout his elementary career. Had it not been for these amazing, highly qualified teachers my son may have never succeeded. Every child deserves the chance to learn and exceed in an environment that fits their learning style, this is what the Kiva provides. Every child is NOT traditional and our learning institutes should not ALL be traditional either. Please keep the Kiva Montessori School open!!!!

The Kiva Montessori School deserves the chance to address its issues and to continue to serve students who almost certainly thrive in its educational environment and who would not thrive in mainstream public schools.

Both of my children attended private schools, and my older son also attended a Montessori school in his early years. It is SO important to allow families the choices to do the best they can for their children and their family culture!

These are good teachers and good students who should not lose their school or their jobs because of faulty leadership. They have persisted despite the obstacles thrown against them. Let them make it through this year and get into their new building.

The Children’s Kiva was an integral part of my successful education in Montezuma county. The school has served children with dedication and passion and could be an asset to a community that needs it. Please consider how to strengthen rather than dismantle this place - it will be a far more powerful legacy to leave.

I went to the kiva as a pre-school and after school daycare program from 1991 - 1994. The curiousity it brought into my life at that time, coupled with the love of learning culture it fostered set me on a path for success in my future endeavors of both middle, high school, college, multiple graduate schools and career. KIVA was an amazing place and I have no doubt that with the new board in place and improved financial oversight, the charter school can be successful within it's own right if given the same chance that all RE-1 schools are normally given. Our kids NEED this school!!!

Closing the Kiva would be a huge loss not only to our children but to our community. I have a child that is a kindergartner “third year”. The Kiva has given her the opportunity to grow in her education, social skills, important life skills, how to communicate with others and in a proper way. I am so grateful that my child is part of this wonderful school. I have stated before in emails and other forms of letters that I have two older children that were part of the public school system. One has graduated now and not from the public school system and the other is ready to drop out. I truly wish that I would have known of this amazing program when my older two were younger. I think they would have been more successful and not struggled as much not only in school but in life. Our children deserve the opportunity for a great education. All politics aside we need to focus on what is best for our kids and I truly believe the Kiva is the answer.

The Kiva has been an important choice for elementary education in our community for many years. Just as the RE-1 district offers an alternative educational option at the high school, it should continue to do so for elementary students. Montessori classrooms provide a rich learning environment for a wide variety of student needs. Please continue to offer this quality educational experience in our district - our students and our entire community benefit greatly from it!

CKMS is a school with a strong community facing a series of enormous setbacks and obstacles. Left in tact, this school has the potential to serve our community well for decades to come. Please give them a chance to regroup and move forward as a school of choice for Montezuma County families.

Over the long term, Montessori education in Montezuma County has shown itself able to produce above-average academic results as well as outstanding young citizens. We all, including RE-1 admin and board, need to support CKMS and promote it during these bumpy times.

Please keep Kiva Middle School open. Both my children had this opportunity and others deserve it too. Thank you

The current school leadership inherited the fallout from bad leadership and bad decisions last year. Please give the new leadership and the strong Montessori community a chance to rebuild the strong program they had in the past.
