KIVA Academy Charter School is a proposed charter school applying to the SUNY trustees to open in CSD 28 for the 2013-2014 school year. We will open with 140 students in K-2 and eventually serve students in K-8. The mission of KIVA Academy Charter School is to prepare English Language Learners and students from immigrant and diverse backgrounds for entrance to competitive high school programs. Our students will demonstrate English language proficiency, academic achievement in core subject areas, multicultural awareness, and high levels of character development as contributing members of their community. Please sign the petition below to indicate your support for the opening of a multicultural public school. KIVA Academy Charter School will reflect and meet the needs of the community by offering students a comprehensive, literacy and language based education in the context of practical science, math, and social skills. We will raise the bar for high standards for all students.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum this has gained lately. This progress belongs entirely to the people who took the time to read about our vision for these students.

The public schools around here are way too crowded. We need more choices like KIVA.

Finally! A school that actually cares about ELL students. My son could have really used something like this.

I hope this gets approved soon. The focus on math and science is exactly what these kids need to get ahead.
