Petition to accept Kiss Chase as an Olympic Sport in 2020
Although played for centuries, Kiss Chase has never been recognised by the modern International Olympic Committee (ICO). The game dates back to Roman times, with star players such as Adeodatus of Catania from 234AD, whose wealth and fame is comparable to that of a top modern Welsh Premier League player.
I have a great passion for this sport, and was an avid player in my youth. Unfortunately, in 1977, at the age of seven, I tore my anterior cruciate ligament, effectively ending my career. However, I now coach the sport at Droitwich University, and am staggered by the amount of home-grown talent we have in this country.
Kiss Chase is a tough, demanding sport that requires supreme fitness, physical endurance, top mental awareness, and lip balm. It is enjoyed by people of all skill levels and is practiced by the young and old and by people of all races, colours and creeds.
Despite not being able to take part at a professional level anymore, I often enjoy playing at the Windmill Shopping Centre car park in Cape Hill on most weekend mornings, although it is apparently not appropriate to do so and I have been asked not to return. Sadly, this lack of acknowledgment of the sport is commonplace and a great source of disappointment to me.
Therefore, I would urge you all to sign this petition to include Kiss Chase as an Olympic sport in the Tokyo Summer Games of 2020, where I will be only too happy to present a team representing Great Britain. Please sign and share the link to this petition on your Social Media pages, and hopefully we will see this sport being represented on the world stage in the near future.
Thank you.
