On April 11th, 2012, Marie Blackburn died of pneumonia. Despite expressed concern for her welfare, social services took twenty-four days to contact her at her home, by which time it was too late.
The following petition is to reduce the 28-day limit that Kirklees have in place to respond to vulnerable adults, in cases which can be life-threatening, by two weeks, meaning social services will have to respond to referrals within a maximum of 14 days.
By signing this petition you are helping to achieve an improved service for elderly people with a realistic response time to contact them, at a time when it counts the most.
Mrs Blackburn may not have lived longer than a week, had social services responded quicker, but she would have received the care and comfort she deserved at the end of her 90 year life.
Thank you.
