On 7 May 2008, Councillors on the City of Toronto\'s Public Works Committee will vote on the fate of the Kirkhams Road Bridge. The cost of bridge repair and bridge removal are similar. To keep our bridge open, we must show that the community values this unique part of our local environment. People walk, jog, and cycle this route everyday. Let\'s keep it that way. To our Councillors we say: We deeply regret the closure of the Kirkhams Road Bridge and the consequent loss of the use of this thoroughfare. We appeal to the City of Toronto to rehabilitate the bridge up to code to fulfill its proper function safely conveying City and Toronto Zoo vehicles, community walkers and cyclists, and resident\'s cars with a minimal impact on the Rouge Valley environment.
