RETAIN THE KINKS MEMORABILIA AT THE CLISSOLD ARMS

We understand that you have taken over the lease for the pub and that you do not wish the Kinks memorabilia to remain on the walls. Kinks fans from all over the world visit the pub each year and the display (which was set up by the late Professor Michael Kraus) gives a lot of pleasure to them. We cannot dictate to you how you should run your business, but we would strongly urge you to keep the plaque commemorating the first public appearance of Ray and Dave Davies, if nothing else. We think that the other items should not go to a public auction and hope that you will ask the landlord of the Alexandra pub opposite if he will take the memorabilia and display it on the walls there. Failing this, we feel that the items should either be returned to Konk at 84-86 Tottenham Lane, Hornsey, London N8 7EE, where they came from in the first place, or else be given to the Official Kinks Fan Club to be auctioned at the November meeting where money is raised for the Leukaemia Research Fund. We hope you will give this serious thought as we are dismayed that The Kinks, who have been so influential in the music world since 1964 and have strong links with the pub, are considered to be an embarrassment to the present leaseholders.
