The name stays. Kingsgate is official and the proposal to change it is dead. Thank you for holding the line.

“Kingsgate” area wants to keep the name “Kingsgate” as previously designated to this area of Kirkland WA 50 years ago in 1964. There are a few residents that want to change the name to Evergreen Hill, and we want to keep the name “Kingsgate”.

“Kingsgate” area is well known to the local residents and to residents as far away as Olympia and Blaine.

Maps (printed and online) list “Kingsgate” as an area in Kirkland WA.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia online:

Kingsgate is a recently annexed neighborhood of Kirkland, Washington, United States. The population was 13,065 at the 2010 census. Prior to the annexation, Kingsgate was a census-designated place (CDP).

Based on per capita income, one of the more reliable measures of affluence, Kingsgate ranks 70th of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked.

Neighboring city Kirkland annexed Kingsgate on June 1, 2011.

Since 1964 several businesses and associations have been registered with the WA State Department of Revenue utilizing the “Kingsgate” name. A few of these registered businesses are:

Kingsgate Car Wash

Kingsgate Dental Health

Kingsgate Empowerment Committee

Kingsgate Enterprises Inc

Kingsgate Hair Salon

Kingsgate Hair Salon Inc

Kingsgate Highlands

Kingsgate Highlands Div #5 Homes Assn

Kingsgate Highlands Div 3 & 4 Home Assoc

Kingsgate Homeowners Association

Kingsgate Koffee Stop

Kingsgate Library

Kingsgate Medical Supplies

Kingsgate Plaza

Kingsgate Ridge Property Management

Kingsgate Royals

Kingsgate Skating Club

Other names associated with “Kingsgate” are:

Kingsgate Bank of America

Kingsgate Bartell Drugs

Kingsgate Chase Bank

Kingsgate Firs Condominiums

Kingsgate Ice Arena

Kingsgate Meadows Apartments

Kingsgate Park and Ride

Kingsgate Safeway

All items associated with, or by, the City of Kirkland should be listed as “Kingsgate” for our area. We are not interested in having the Kingsgate community and/or association name(s) for “Kingsgate” area listed differently with the City of Kirkland, differently on the City of Kirkland website, and/or differently on any and all maps associated with the “Kingsgate” area by the City of Kirkland.

Please sign this petition if you are a Kirkland WA resident and want to keep the name “Kingsgate” to preserve our past and preserve our future.

All of the signatures on this document will be presented to the Mayor and City Council (the people to make the final decision about keeping the name “Kingsgate”) of the City of Kirkland in the near future. At this time the actual meeting date has not be scheduled.

Thank you for your consideration and taking the time to sign this Petition with your first and last name (otherwise your vote will not count).

Even the United States Census Bureau considers us to be Kingsgate. Changing the name to honor a local hospital that was not part of the PAA seems arbitrary and ignorant of the area's history.

I have lived in Kingsgate for 42 years. I do not want the name changed. When I go for directions, it often comes up that I live in Kingsgate, Washington. We are mentioned on all traffic reports. LEAVE THE NAME ALONE.

The legal description of Kingsgate plated in @ 1964 or 1965, was 'Kingsgate Highlands, Divisions 1 through 6. Please, let's keep the Kingsgate name. We have a history!

Evergreen Hill? That is ridiculous. Why don't we change the name of United States of America to Central North America? Leave a good thing a good thing. Those who have no sense of tradition and/or loyalty need to find their own place to name, not change the name of a place that has such a great history and tradition, as Kingsgate.

one of the first residents to have our home built in the "planned community" of Kingsgate in 1966...raised my family there forming wonderful memories in Kingsgate...love the name established long ago and see no need to change it

I've lived in "Kingagate" for nearly 40 years. I Own a customer service based business based out of Kingsgate. I almost choked when I saw the title "Evergreenhill" on a kiosk outside of the fire station. I'm glad there may be something we as a community can do! PLEASE don't change the name of our neighborhood!!
