This is so true and unfair I completely agree with this

being in the “past” category it was bad when i was a student and now it has done nothing bot gotten worst. we have to stand with our girls if we want any sort of progression against sexism.

I would say that this should be expanded to include the other Middle Schools in Kirkland. My daughter went to FHMS and they have the same terrible policies that send the same wrong message to our amazing kids! Thank you for drafting this petition! I support you!

Oh and I'm writing this as a parent of both a son and daughter currently attending LWSD middle schools.

So important! As a community let's focus on what the real issues are rather than reinforcing our already prevalent body-shaming culture. Together let's stop the sexist, blaming rhetoric that often leads to self esteem insecurities and eating disorders.

Signing as a mother of an incoming 6th grade girl. I do not want my daughter in a learning institution where she is shamed or made to feel uncomfortable in her own skin, nor should she have to bear the burden of responsibility for her classmates or school faculty being uncomfortable by her simply existing as an adolescent female.

Teach boys how to act around a girl not automatically blame the girls for boys actions or distractions

Even though i don’t go to kirkland middle school anymore, i find this dress code so ridiculous. girls need to be comfortable when it’s hot out and not have to worry about getting sent home or getting unwanted attention from the principal dress coding them!!

And it only gets worse at the high school. As the mom of three girls, I am infuriated. Girls are not distractions and boys are not animals.

My son starts KiMS in the fall. This dress code undermines all of the hard work his dad and I have done to ensure respect for women and girls. Change it.

The dress code is so unfair and sexist! Who has shorts that go to your finger tips? No one! They don’t even sell them! Also girls can’t help showing their bra straps. I am signing this because this dress code needs to change! I get it if your butt or boobs are showing but that isn’t what is happening so it is just unfair and sexist.

Future KiMS parent here. Please update your thinking, messaging, policies and actions. It’s 2019 and we all know better by now.
