Kimberlin is just too busy to be able to work in at the minute and there's never a computer free lately.

We need space thanks

Im a third year student and finding it really hard to find somewhere to revise for my final exams. It is a key element to be comfortable when revising otherwise it will hinder my performance. On monday 25th April 2016, i had to revise on the steps for almost half an hour before anywhere was available. This was both stressful and worrying. Please provide more places for us students to revise. Thank you.

The library is too packed this exam season and so it makes it difficult to find a space to revise. It would be extremely helpful to keep the Greenhouse and Eric Wood open 24/7.

Not enough access to Macs either which I needed for Photoshop as not all the pcs actually have it

More space is needed to be opened up for students as you cannot access study areas or computer areas after 8pm

Needs more CAD installed computers too

Just need other libraries to stay open longer. The busiest times are in the evening, from 6-10pm.

Statement: “As a result of unprecedented night-time use in Kimberlin Library and student feedback via this online e-petition, LLS has extended Eric Wood opening until midnight this week (w/b 25th April). From Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May, staffing adjustments have been made to allow us to open Eric Wood Learning Zone on a 24 hour basis on weekdays (8am Monday to midnight Friday) for the next fortnight. We appreciate that this falls short of the 24/7 access to Eric Wood and Greenhouse that ideally we would like to offer, but within the resources available to us to open these spaces safely and responsibly, we hope that this makes a difference. The Library has been working this year to increase permanent study space numbers and PC availability in Kimberlin Library, and to provide additional spaces for the summer term. This year we have: • Opened a new Silent IT Room • Undertaken a project to increase study spaces in phases. To date we have created an additional 38 study spaces in Kimberlin Library and increased PC numbers in the building by 80, which include 20 AutoCAD machines (comment on petition says we only have 15 machines – we now have 35). By the completion of this project we will have over 140 extra PCs in Kimberlin Library, 36 loanable laptops, and 70 additional study spaces will have been created. • Introduced laptop lending with 36 laptops now available for student use in Kimberlin or elsewhere on campus. • With ITMS support, measures have been implemented to address ‘PC hogging’ and set a time limit on study spaces being left unattended • Opened Kimberlin Library on a 24/7 basis throughout the Easter vacation and bank holiday weekend Under our #PopUpLibrary measures for the summer term to support the final projects and revision period we have: • Created 50 temporary silent study spaces (which include 20 PCs) on the Lower Ground Floor which are available 24/7 • Repurposed the ground floor of the Campus Centre as a ‘Revision and Study Zone’ wi

Please allow for all libraries to have later closing times, or 24/7 access as demand is outstripping supply. The Kimberlin has become so overcrowded that when you walk in there it feels more like a social common room, than a place to achieve your best potential. I appreciate an effort has been made with the recent loaning of laptops, but without enough places to charge these devices, we may as well revert back to the primitive age of using paper and pen only. Which is not only exhaustive, but a far less efficient way to work. Hopefully you can do this as it really would stand to benefit a lot of people.

More space is needed

I work with my own laptop, but I can't find a quite place that would have a free power socket - so frustrating!

Library is always overly packed. Not enough room, considering we all pay fairly for the facilities which we are not able to use!! Where does our tuition fee going?? Make more facilities available!!!!
