As a concerned resident of Ellesmere Road in Berkhamsted, I would like to appeal to Hertfordshire Highway Department to consider a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), dropping the current speed limit from 30mph to 20mph.

Due to the constant inconsiderate and dangerous driving that occurs on our road on a daily basis, the behaviour of many drivers has resulted in over 15 of our beloved pets being killed over the years and it is only a matter of time before one of us is injured or potentially killed.

I've seen several incidents of cats being knocked by cars that have then sped off without any consideration to the cat or their owners. I've nursed an injured cat that died in my arms and have had several neighbour share their stories of their lost pets.

It's about time something was done. A lowering of the speed limit would go someway to ensuring that all residents and their pets are able to live on our road safely.
