From the Texas/Mexico border to the countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq: America controls unmanned aerial vehicles as killing machines. Drone attacks have increased 70% since President Obama has taken office in Pakistan alone, and now drones are hovering over our own borders. A person sitting in an office in Nevada with a joystick gets to decide whether on not someone 1000s of miles away gets to live or die. A person sitting in an office in Nevada with a joystick has no right to decide whether or not someone 1000s of miles away gets to live or die based solely on where they live. The government of this country has no right to decide whether or not someone 1000s of miles away gets to live or die based solely on where they live. Even as children, we understand that violence does not solve problems, but rather creates more. We understand that solving problems takes deep thought and hard work. As children we want to protect our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan, our brothers and sisters in Iraq, our brothers and sisters in Pakistan, and now our brothers and sisters in Mexico by demanding an end to these attacks immediately. Adults have a universal responsibility to children, to all the children, in the whole world, to be their parents. So, we are asking that President Obama ground the drones. That he not launch one more attack in the Middle East and that he not launch ONE attack in Mexico. We will mail this petition to the President and different members of congress.
