Unless the school wants this behaviour to continue (which I would HOPE they don't), immediate, serious action needs to be taken. People like this who grow up without intervention are those that become genuinely dangerous. Especially to innocent minority groups.
He needs serious consequences for EVERYONE'S benefit. And a better education so he knows how absolutely unacceptable and messed up his behaviour is.

This is disgusting. I hope this guy never has a chance at playing football. He can't tolerate a kid wearing a rainbow flag. No telling what else he can't tolerate. Gross and disgusting human being.

Behavior won’t change without real consequences. Suspension for assault a non-threatening student who expects their school to be a safe place for them will do little more than a slap on the wrist. Please remove him from his teams so that he can learn his actions have real consequences. If he truly cares to improve as a person, he will take the actions himself to make reparations and earn the right to represent his team and school.
