This should be seen as a hate crime, as it is. This young man acted out of hate, violence, and ignorance. For the sake of the victim, this aggressor should face consequences for his actions. I expect the school system NOT to fail their students and NOT to fail the parents that entrust them to protect their children.

Forget sports teams. He should be expelled. The school has expelled students for far less. Athletes should be held to a higher standard, not given a pass. Stop coddling them and make them take responsibility for their actions!
Also, someone needs to educate these guys about amendment rights for students. When it comes to sexual orientation they have no respect for the students rights.
