There is a lot of sporting talent in Kerikeri and the surrounds. In the past sports-persons have been forced to travel to Auckland to further their sporting careers due to the lack of facilities in the area. Sports need a focal point which local sports-persons can utilise. Hopefully that will improve the standards and enable the area to retain their talented individuals

Council needs to act ASAP. This football has been kicked around enough. Kerikeri has the highest population in the Far North, pays the bulk of the rates, yet the planning for sports facilities favours Kaitaia and Kaikohe. Local Council elections
Oct. 2019. better make this an election issue!!

Totally support an Integrated sports hub in Kerikeri. As a football coach, I see this area badly needs facilties not only fields but fields with quality lighting that will benefit players and spectators as well .

There is more than one viable site that council have been looking at, there is no doubt that our district has grown and has sufficient need for a sports hub, but the correct site must be chosen based on the needs of sports/community groups as opposed to those who have a vested business interest in one landowners site.

Great idea, the Inline Hockey team would love to have more rink time if basketball and badminton had their own spaces

There is likely a significant proportion of the current generation of Northland kids that are missing out on the oppurtunity to take part/experience basic sporting codes.

That`s more than overdue! Make sure that if not do-able right now, AT LEAST provisions are made to include a pool later - and NOT a silly 6 million $ project that will never be viable and only brings money to the planning consultants. Reasonable would be a industrial building, look at the new Hospice processing center, 1300$/sqm as an example - people want to swim, no need for fancy.

I agree! Our community and surrounding areas are hugely young families. A central sports hub would benefit all indeed. Travel to varying venues can be difficult with siblings. Everyone is wanting and needing to expand. I would like to see a Sports Hub extended to include a large indoor pool, and also dance and drama rooms plus many other activities including field events. Perhaps concert capabilities too. Venture hire. Conference rooms.....one hub!
Everyone needs to rally together and make our community greater. Transport from schools to activities will include more children to have access to sports.
