Currently gymnastics is carried out in a dilapidated old building, there are no squash courts, the football club does not have enough playing fields and cricket needs to have a home. With a growing population, a Sports centre is definitely needed.

a minister of sport 20 years ago had the mantra that a youth in sport wont be in court. With the growth of the population in and around Kerikeri, there is a very real need for more and better facilities, which need to include a covered swimming pool.

Sport is so important in a child's development. They learn so much more than just "keeping fit" or "exercise" etc. Team work, participation, perseverance, control, confidence, discipline...
This would be an awesome asset to the growing community in and around Kerikeri.

The proposed sporting hub in Kerikeri will provide much needed provision for participation opportunities for a wide cross section of the community - catering for a number of different sports and activities. It will be an invaluable investment for the wider Kerikeri community for decades to come.
