We kindly propose to the BWF Management Committee to give Kento Momota a Wild Card for Paris 2024 to directly participate the Olympic without needing to compete in Race-to-Paris.

As a record breaker who obtained 11 titles in the 2018-19 season and a 121-week World No.1, the 2018-2021 Momota is impeccable. Unfortunately, back injury in 2021 caused his ranking to drop to 40, and he had to wait two years, until November 2023, to finally obtain a Korean Masters title. Although it's been 2 years of recovering, overwhelmed by expectations, he found it hard to win match and regain confidence in the start of 2024.

Confidence is everything for Momota. Without it, he is insecure to his techniques, and he is unable to attack efficiently in games. He wants to participate in Paris 2024, he CRAVES to. But even if his body would recover, the loss of confidence and the fact that his was already far behind in Race-to-Paris meant that he is disappointed and lost at the same time, possibly thinking about retiring.

He needed the wild card. Banned for gambling at Rio 2016, knocked out the first round at Tokyo 2020 (again, overwhelmed by expectation), and now unable to qualify for Paris 2024, this is simply unimaginable for such a world-class player.

The wild card won't affect the game. 35 players, divided into 12 groups, will compete in the group stage. Adding Momota, making it 36, actually balances the number of individuals per group. Although Japan had already had 2 players likely qualify, given the fact that they are the previous host of Olympic in pandemic time, which increased the difficulty of hosting the game, it is not impossible to add a additional participant.

March is coming, and Paris 2024 is near, now is the time to sign the petition, which would give sufficient time for the BWF committee to consider granting the wild card.
