I was lucky enough to meet him twice. as a teenager. He made a lasting impression on my life as a ballplayer AND a man. I was 32 when he died...and I cried.

Ken was my boy hood idle. I went to the same high school that he and his brothers attended. I look forward for baseball to start each year. After the season Ken, Cloyd and Clete would bring some of their friends and they would play an exhibition ball game agains Mickey Mantle and his friends. That was a high of our summer in Purcell and just on example of Ken giving back to the community.

Ken Boyer was the best 3rd baseman in the game from the late 50s to 1964. He was consisent (24 HRs 4 yrs in a row (1961-64), NL MVP in 1964, and played a mean 3B. He should have been in the HOF years ago.
