In Reference to the following article; http://bc.rcmp.ca/ViewPage.action?siteNodeId=50&languageId=1&contentId=24119 We the undersigned demand that Keith Lacey, Editor of the Osoyoos Times, immediately resign his position, and in the absence of that we are Calling on the Osoyoos Times to immediately terminate his employment. Keith Lacey, in his article, epitomized everything that is wrong with journalism. Like the RCMP members, those in media are in a position of public trust and need to be held accountable for their written word. They have a responsibility to be accurate, factual and truthful in their coverage of events. The public depends on the media as a reliable source of information. The blatant lies of this individual and his attempt to bully an RCMP Officer with his position using an official public forum only demonstrates the weakness of his character. We believe he is not worthy to hold a position of trust within the public media. If he is willing to lie about this event, we cannot trust that he will be a reliable source of information for the community. His actions are inexcusable and call for him to resign or be dismissed from his position.
