As much as I believe that every community should have green spaces for sports and recreation, I also believe that a school is at the heart of any community. Ysgol y Graig MUST stay in cefn coed. My son goes to the school and my daughter will go there in years to come, as did their father, aunts, uncles and grand parents. I hope that the council can can up with plans that will allow the village to have the best of both worlds: a top grade educational facility and a green space that all generations within the village can use, however, keeping the school within the village has to be the priority. Cefn Coed has already suffered the effects of losing Vaynor and Penderyn, it can't lose Ysgol y Graig too.

The school should stay in the vaynor ward, but the field is protected for a reason so I do not see why the council should be able to over turn that with a clause, for financial reasons

The new school build must stay in cefn coed regardless of where the council decide what site it goes on.

I sign this petition that I fundamentally disagree moving the school out of Vaynor (Cefn). I have my preferences for the sites in Cefn and believe all are acceptable subject to community consultation.

As an alumni pupil of the school I feel deeply connected to supporting education within the village and within the ward. The education and opportunities I and many others received was second to none. It does take a community to raise a child and I am privileged to have experienced the support throughout my compulsory education and it has no doubt influenced my career choices leading to teaching in the community and training in community development. I really hope as a collective we nurture the next generation to appreciate the ability to recognise the importance of education in conjunction with green spaces that encourage physical literacy. Supporting recreational activities and clubs is something we do well as a community and it is an integral part of our local economy however loosing the school will cause irreparable damage; financially and emotionally to the future of the village residents of all ages.

As import as a green space is for the community, our children's education must be a priority. Moving Ysgol Y Graig out of the community will have a detrimental effect on residents and businesses. We need to keep the school in Cefn and ensure an educational facility is built that will help secure our children's future. So before we decide the appropriate place it's built We need to come together and let Merthyr Council know that Cefn Coed is the first and last option when choosing where the school goes.

I think the community as a whole understands the importance of education and providing a safe facility for our children. Also the importance of retaining the school in the Vaynor Ward, in the community! Losing the local school would seriously affect the children, businesses and homeowners.

The school needs to stay in cefn for the sake of the children and for the village.
