Petition to amend Florida statue 776.013 to include the following:

Let’s face it we do not live in a perfect world, and despite their best attempts police do not always come in time to prevent crime. In some areas unfortunately many police departments are understaffed, or underfunded to meet community needs. This is why we hire security officers, and form neighborhood watch groups to try to work with local authorities to keep our community safe. Those who we trust and hire to watch our properties need the same protections we the average citizen have when faced with a dangerous situation.

Lately there has been some debate of Florida’s laws mostly because of a political agenda. Let’s look at the facts not being able to protect lives, and property only serves the criminal element.

Do you want people to be so afraid of overzealous prosecutors that no one will be there to protect your property?.

In a nutshell we are asking for nothing less than for those who protect us to have the same protections under the law that Florida stature states a private citizen has.  So we are asking for this change to Florida law.

Immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for justifiable use of force by a licensed security officer, or someone acting in a neighborhood watch capacity. To provide the right to use legal deadly force when reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another when either of the following.

A. While on post.

B. While in a patrol vehicle

C. While on a foot patrol
