Coach Metzger has been a terrific coach and a great role model for the students/players. Pinecrest football program has come so far beyond everyones expectations. I see how other schools are looking up to our program that he has put into place and wanting their players to take note on how Pinecrest Football Coaches and Players act and respect others. He has shown and proven to all that he is a great leader. Coach Metzger has become a face and voice of Pinecrest Football and if we lose him, we lose hope for our awesome program that he built and the hearts of the players that adore him dearly!!

Keep Coach Meztger at Pinecrest. As a former Raider football player from 2005-2007, Pinecrest use to literally be a punching bag on everyone's schedule. We used look forward to this game more than the bye week. He had turned that program slap around, and to now be a teacher in Charlotte and to have driven to Southern Pines for the game this year with Richmond speaks volumes to how far this program has come. Don't be stupid.

We finally have a great coach that has a wonderful eork ethic and instills that in the boys and did a tremendous job with the team. What happened at the end was a mistake and he should be forgiven. He would certainly would never have done anyghing like that on
Purpose.
Is it worth starting all over with a new coach???

I’m compelled. I’m on the outside looking in. I’m also an educator, mentor, coach and I have ties to the area. When talking about student/athletes, we must always talk to the student first. We preach in education about not giving up, giving our all to 100% of our students all the time. Above par educators eventually evolve into a role of never giving up on kids and embracing the concept of second and possibly third and fourth chances all the time. It's what we do in our "never quit on the students" world. This philosophy collectively culminates in developing positive character responses as adults regardless of an immediate outcome. This is what parent’s dream of their children having; mentors, coaches, and teachers that won't or don’t ever give up on their precious children. As adults we falter too, just like kids, all the time, maybe even more....unfortunately as adults the tolerance for lack of follow through, oversights and making mistakes is void of second, third and fourth chances regardless of the character of that individual. Bad things happen to great people and Coach Metzger is no exception. Those in the Pinecest community know him as a character mentor. Now, at this moment, his integrity and character as a man is being tested 10 fold. He has made a mistake that within his moral consciousness only he shoulders. Point being, (you can’t be in his head and you can’t feel what he is feeling). Has it effected a community, by damning it to its core and left the carnage of those who gave everything to him and his program? Yes it has, if you let him go then theoretically you let your program go. If you are one of those people embedded in the Pinecrest Football nucleus you have to ask yourself, do you give multiple chances? In what situations do you give multiple chances? Where is the line drawn? Do you want to start all over with a new leader and risk the setbacks of another coup? Metzger’s lack of follow through on a major issue does not erase 9+ years of

Coach Metzger has not only been an awesome couch to his team, but has been an amazing influence on a huge population of the student body as a whole. He's not just the coach of a football team! He's a motivator for kids who sometimes need an extra push. He's a role model who instills dedication, endurance, team work and comradery, among young impressionable students, that's lasts long after they've left his class or team. He's a compassionate man who shows genuine care and concern for those around him. It would be an absolute travesty to lose him as a coach, as a teacher and overall an integral part of Pinecrest High! He has helped my son in more ways than I'm sure he even understands. And for that, I am forever grateful! #keepcoachmetzger

Please keep Metzger at Pinecrest. There was an honest mistake that was proactively addressed by the program versus being "caught" by the association!
