Vote NO.. We do not want Dillons/Kroger/Kwik Shop being the only place we can buy our spirits. Is it not bad enough that they are the only ones other than walmart we can buy grocereys- so much for competition, Same with Gas, Kwik shop is about all thats left in this run down dump they call Hutchinson. If you pass this, I'll be forced to buy a Diesel truck so I can fuel up anywhere but Kwikshop. Im was considering moving to Mo. and passing this will just be more reason for me to move.

I do floor work and refinishing of several liquor stores. I would like to keep the customers I have, they would not be able to retain my services if this bill passes, one more lost job. Keep kansas jobs.

I am against is legislation for many reasons... Big box stores are spreading propaganda about liquor stores in Kansas (masquerading as advocates for the people) solely to increase their bottom line. This bill is about their GREED! They want it all! How many more businesses do they have to shut down before someone says enough! They speak of monopolies... they need to look in the mirror! Do they even know what a monopoly is? There are 110 liquor stores in Wichita and over 750 in Kansas... Every one of these businesses are owned by individuals who followed letter of the law to acquire their licenses, and have been held to the standards set forth by the liquor control act when prohibition was lifted. While some of these rules are ridiculous, they are still rules that are enforced. There are open hour restrictions, days open restrictions, and age requirements for employees. Big box stores and convenience stores want to change the rules in the middle of the game so they can play, too! They are using their corporate bullies and corporate money to fight against individuals who depend on their businesses for survival (because they have poured all their heart, soul, time and private funding into it). Make no mistake... if this bill passes, people will lose their jobs and their businesses. If it doesn't pass, Dillons will still survive, as will QT. They won't lose a thing except money. The punchline here is that I have to shop at the grocery store and the gas station! There is no way around them! The social ramifications of this law cannot be fully realized... There will absolutely be more underage drinking. Alcohol will be more accessible to recovering alcoholics and alcoholics alike. A recovering alcoholic doesn't stop at the liquor store... but they have to buy groceries. Temptation at its best! Advocates for this bill have stated that other states make this work. It's true!
