River Bluff needs to stay public. Rockford and Winnebago County have more than enough private places for people with the resources to live there.

A private pay facility will reduce Medicaid patient residents. It is an mean spirited idea.

This is certainly not fair to our most vulnerable people. Our community is better than this.

9 years ago it was a 4.5 star home with primarily Medicare and Medicaid funding due to a court ruling. With the right leadership is has the potential to achieve that again. The facility is large, but has a lot of homey little lounges and outdoor space that is accessible to the residents. Most of the residents were the hard working, blue collar backbone that built this community. The county chair and board have the opportunity to do the right thing and maintain the home so that these builders of our community have dignity in their last years. The Bluff was not established to be a money maker, but a safe haven.

We need a public nursing home to meet the needs of our community seniors who only receive Medicare and Medicaid and would have no where else to live.

Lets put aside the politics and actually help the people in need.

Nursing homes need more funding, figure it out without being at the expense of those who can't help themselves and the ones that serve them.

Having worked at several different "nursing" homes in the area, I am against privatizing River Bluff. The homes run by non-profits are usually much better.

Our residents in need should be able to count on their local government. It’s called human dignity!
