Alexander Hamilton Middle School has a high performing Vanguard program serving approximately 450 students. By having the Vanguard Program, our school has a very bright future. After a decade of intentional, deliberate direction and hard work, Hamilton is attracting students from Heights area neighborhoods and beyond and we have the infrastructure in place to perform even better tomorrow. In addition to a challenging curriculum, the admissions standards of a gifted and talented program means our kids are also challenged by their peers. We want our children to be ready for college and have the ability to compete academically in the very competitive world in which we now live. Our children want to be good students. We are raising them this way. We must keep the Vanguard Program at Hamilton intact and growing. The greater Heights community needs a program that’s designed for kids who are committed to work hard at school, strive for excellence, and take education very seriously. Doing away with this Vanguard program will leave the Heights, Timbergrove, Garden Oaks and Oak Forest areas with no proven options. The greater Heights community does not in any way support this direction HISD is proposing for Hamilton Middle School.
