we had plastic balls with the Barna Super Ball years ago. They were Rubbish. We need to keep the celluloid ball.

Still a commercial operation ... Passing the ball 38 mm to 40 mm ball was not a success, the game has not slowed, table tennis has not become more telegenic, but we consume ten times more balls ! Besides the initial investment to change all the balls!

Why? Manufacturing issues can certainly be addressed with modern safety equipment. Is there someone who is set to make a windfall profit from this? That's the only reason I can think to change.

Keep the old ball until there is a working alternative. Postbone at least 2 years.

My name is Max. I am an italian T.T. player and I am a chemist. (alchemy in life is my blog) As a table tennis player i can say the celluloid ball is good and many equipments ( rubber sheets and blade) have been utilized for many years without any problem.From the point of view of celluloid, as a chemist, I can say it is utilized for many other objects. Celluloid is not less safe than other materials.
I doubt an alternative material such as plastic can offer the same characteristics (spin, and speed).

From the desription of the new balls which are not made out to be and I have been playing Table Tennis for the last 30 years with current celluloid balls, why change now. I therefore reject the new poly plastic balls.

Do not change the ball nto the plastic once.
Let's just be hounest there is no reason to do this change. Only thing i can coem up with is that the change is to improve the sales of balls.
Can you imagine how many balls will be sold to all the clubs over the world. What i heard is that this ball will be more expensive and it will break faster. It's just a commericial thing has nothing to do with improvement ofthe sport.

Broke two plastic balls in one match. Not normally opposed to some changes to make the sport better but I don't see any upside to this change.

The new plastic ball sucks! I will just continue to play with the celluloid ball in practice and tournaments. Suck it ITTF! and F the environment!

I have table tennis robots with hundreds of culloloid balls and it would be very costly to change them
