We are opposed to the opening of an Academy in Ellesmere Port. Cheshire County Coucil is planning to close two comprehensive schools (Ellesmere Port Specialist School of Performing Arts and Cheshire Oaks High School) and replacing them with one enormous Academy. The lead sponsors (neither of whom have actually put any money into the school) will be the Church of England and Chester University. The Academy will be funded by central government and outside of the control of the Local Authority - an unaccountable private school funded by the tax payer.
