The opening scene on Privet Drive sets the tone for the entire story. Skipping it creates a massive hole in the plot.

The momentum for this keeps growing. Clearly everyone agrees that Privet Drive is essential for the story.

Keep them in the movie. It sets up the whole story line for the rest of the series.
Bad idea to cut them out. It ruins the continuity with the other movies.
UGH. why do they always have to change everything. its such a huge plot hole if they leave them out.
They cut way too much out of the books as it is. We NEED the Dursleys in the beginning to make it make sense. Dont change the script!
Seriously? The movie wont make any sense without that opening. Stick to the book please.

THEY ARE LITERALLY THE REASON HARRY IS ALIVE. How can you skip that part???
