The council has officially scrapped the funding cuts and Déda is safe. I am overwhelmed by the result and so grateful to everyone who helped protect our dance house.

This petition is now CLOSED and was handed in to Derby City Council on Friday 18 November.

If you still want to KEEP DERBY DANCING, up until 15 December you can still let Derby City Council know what you think about their proposals.

Email Hilary Jones (Deputy Leader of the Council) at [email protected] or contact Phillip Hickson (Leader of the Council) at [email protected]

Thanks for your support!

Déda, the only dedicated dance house in the East Midlands, is under threat.

Under current City Council proposals, Déda will receive cuts to its current grant funding of 85% over the next three years, receiving nothing whatsoever in the fourth year.

Please visit http://www.deda.uk.com/support-us for more information.

Visit http://bit.ly/savederbyarts to submit your reaction to Derby City Council's proposals (the section that directly relates to culture in the city is 'Neighbourhoods')

Seeing this level of backing for Déda is overwhelming because it shows how many people share my belief that dance needs a home in this city. This momentum proves that our community refuses to lose such a vital space.

Seeing the count climb toward one hundred names reminds me how much this studio meant to my own journey with dance. We are almost at that milestone and need you to push this a little further today so the council cannot ignore our movement.

KEEP DEDA OPEN. Stop wasting money on useless projects and fund the arts.

Derby is already dying as it is. Dont take away the few good things we actually have left. Shame on the council.

Taking away arts funding is always the first thing they do but it affects so many kids in this city. Leave Déda alone!

Deda has been a part of my life for years. So sad to think of it disappearing because of some budget spreadsheet.

My daughter goes here every week and loves it. Its a second home for so many people. Please reconsider this madness.
