Dear LAUSD:
Families of Mt Washington Elementary and community members are petitioning to keep the library aide that has served the school for more than 15 years, fully aware that the position will need to be split with another small school in the area during the current budget crisis.
Clare Marter Kenyon goes beyond the job description of a Library Aide. She knows the families, the names of hundreds of students, the book needs of the classrooms and is active in the community. Clare makes the after school homework lab in the library a comfortable place for the students. Allowing her to remain at the local school as well as sharing her skills at a neighboring school will maintain continuity for the students. Our school is already under stress and discord over the very limited resources and cuts affecting it. Please help this school maintain its strong scores and sense of community by keeping Clare Marter Kenyon as our Library Aide.
Sincerely,
The administration has acknowledged the volume of community feedback regarding the library aide position. I am currently finalizing a formal request for a meeting with district leadership to discuss the proposed staffing split.

Ridiculous to cut someone like her who actually knows the kids names and cares about them. Leave her at our school.
