The city of Winter Haven has been presented with a request to change Ave T from US Hwy 17 to 11th St. N.E. and Buckeye Loop Rd to Dundee Rd to be named Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. The current MLK Rd is on a short two lane road that they have approved to be changed to Community Way. Due to they think this road is not long enough and is not on a major highway. They have also in the past few years changed the Lake Silver Park to MLK park. They presented the panel with 3 options, one being Ave T & Eleventh St. with Buckeye Loop, the other is First St. from Palm Dr to Cypress Gardens Blvd or Hwy 17 from Cypress Gardens Blvd to US hwy 92. The other two routes are more active with traffic and would be a better option. They have also mentioned this would be a new parade route, Parades do not belong in residential areas without numerous side streets for access in case of emergency and so forth. So please sign and be against this change in our community.
