The students deserve to have known about this for a long time. Because of the late notice many students have not had time to look at off campus apartments and make other plans.

This is a violation of their rights! They have to pay good money to go to this university and the idea that ANYTHING is prohibited to them is not only wrong but could be detrimental to their health, grades, and family's financial status!

This decision to force out most of your upperclass students off campus is ridiculous! There is only a few spot available in South Donahue and the price of the housing is too high for most of your students. This scheme seems to be more about money than the welfare of the students and it seems disgraceful to spring it on them at the last minute like it has been done.

I am a sophomore and I live in the same dorm I did my freshman year.
Last year, living in the housing community freshman year did help me meet many other freshman but one of the friendships that I value the most was a Senior, who had lived in the dorm all four years. Then this year when I moved in, I met my new roommate and my new suitemates and they are all freshman and we all have different majors. I would never have met some of my greatest friends if I hadn't been able to live in the dorms as an upperclassmen. Please reconsider this decision.

I am very concerned about housing for my son for the 2016-17 school year. It was our understanding that priority would be given to current students over incoming students, as it should. This new plan is unfair to the students that like the conveniences of living on campus. Please reconsider.

A big draw for us to have our daughter join the Honors College was being able to live in the Honors Dorm in the Village. A safe, close location with like-minded serious students in what I consider is an extremely nice dorm. She loves being in a dorm setting yet having an "apartment feel" with her own bedroom for privacy. It's not fair to force her out next year! You are denying a large number of Auburn's students a nice, affordable place to live! I don't want to pay for a 12 month lease in an apartment (not to mention all the extra costs involved!) when she is only there for 9 months. Everybody knows Donahue is for the athletes and average students don't live there (even if they could afford it!) Housing sororities in the premiere dorms of the Village while kicking out Honors College, Dean List, Full Scholarship students like my daughter is mind boggling! It's simply ridiculous and unfair! Bad move Auburn.

Living on campus is a part of the college experience and upperclassmen should be encouraged to stay on campus. The culture of a school is guided by those living there and this change is not beneficial to the Auburn community.

I don't even live on campus and I can tell you this new policy is absurd. Some of my friends can't afford to live off campus so especially not SD. When a new policy makes my friends text me in the middle of the night asking for help.. Something's wrong.

As an Auburn Alumnus, I really worry about how this affects the future of students who have planned on living on campus for more than just their Freshman year.
This was an option for us when I attended, and I had many friends who stayed on-campus for more than just Freshman year. Interestingly, those students who stay on campus tend to be some of your best and brightest - they were there on scholarship which is why they needed cheaper housing options and/or preferred being closer to their classes!
This is still the case... I heard about this new policy from a student who is on a National Merit Scholarship and can only have his housing covered if he lives on campus. Is that a student we want to place a financial strain on?
I worry that this is going to affect the type of scholars we attract at Auburn. When scholarship recipients learn that they won't be able to have housing paid for because they won't be allowed to stay on campus, they will choose to go to a different school.
I understand that this policy is in place partly because Auburn wants to be able to claim they have room for all Freshmen on campus. This is a pretty terrible way to make room for all those Freshmen though. There has to be a better solution, so we can continue to recruit the top academic talent- not just the top athletic talent.
